Kate has been a yoga teacher for 4 years, leading classes designed for a range of different people of varying needs and capabilities. She believes in encouraging her students to make them feel at ease in her classes and asks them to be intuitive and kind to themselves as they move through the practice. She aims to make her classes as inclusive as possible, offering different options for poses and breathing and also makes it clear to her students that the cues are just an option, not a demand and that they have the autonomy to choose for themselves. She likes to challenge when appropriate and also offer points of rest for moments of contemplation and silence.
Pregnancy yoga is something she has a great passion for and say it is so lovely to be able to teach mums to be how they can work with their bodies to make both their pregnancy and birthing experience as positive as possible. She is very mindful that the people in class have different needs to those who are practicing in a regular session. Classes are centred around tuning in to the body and connection with baby and moving slowly to ensure the participants have the time to do this. We work with breath and movement and well as meditation to focus the mind and sooth the nervous system which can be very beneficial for someone who is expecting a child. Kate always aims to give her students time either before or after the session to chat and create connections as mother hood can sometimes feel isolating, especially for new mothers.
