Julian has practised Chinese Martial Arts and its associated therapies for over 10 years with The Taoist Arts Organisation.
From his experience in the fighting arts and associated injuries he knows that gentle techniques often work better than therapies that force the body into a position as it allows the body and brain to fully integrate what it is being asked to do. The Tui Na techniques he uses work on soft tissue, muscles and joints in a fully integrated way. They may involve joint manipulation to open the joints, acupressure or the use of cloths and dowels to get the body moving effectively.
Well-known for its effectiveness in treating musculo-skeletal conditions such as arthritis, sciatica, sports related injuries and chronic pain, Tui Na may also be effective for other problems such as headaches, sleep difficulties, and stress amongst others. It can also be effective in maintaining and enhancing flexibility and mobility, and promoting health and wellbeing.
Tui Na Treatments are carried out over loose clothing and there is no requirement to undress although some techniques may be applied directly to the skin.
I have been an osteopath since 2015 but my fascination with the way the body works goes back much further. I have been driven by my own struggle with keeping my body working well, having had various surgeries and complications. I discovered Tai Chi and Martial Arts and because I gained a thorough understanding of biomechanics I was inspired to train as an Osteopath.
Alongside Osteopathy I also qualified as a Martial Arts coach and Tui Na Massage Practitioner.
I have found these fit together brilliantly and they support my absolute belief that everyone can improve their posture and movement. My aim is for you to achieve more than just temporary relief; it is to help you find what causes and contributes to your problem and to find solutions, unique to you, that you can take away to continue to help yourself.
The way I see it, prevention is better than cure. To support you in this process I have recorded and developed a programme of exercises that are both gentle yet powerfully effective. You can find them at www.qibodywisdom.com/courses
When I am not at work you will find my with my animal family, which includes cats, dogs, guinea pigs and horses. You’ll also find mt teaching anatomy and biomechanics for our accredited Tui Na courses and trying out new sports.
