I have been a receptionist at CHC since 2010. However I was familiar with the centre having previously benefited from Osteopathy there. I continue to use the therapies when necessary, and do a weekly Pilates class in the studio, which has definitely improved my core strength. I trained as a nurse at University College Hospital so my background is conventional medicine.  From 1983 -1996 I was working as a community nurse, initially attached to a surgery in Downham, then after the arrival of my daughter I worked on the ‘twilight’ service covering all of Lewisham Borough. I continued this until my youngest son was three. This enabled me to be at home with them during the day, which was important to me.

I then worked at The Blackheath Hospital for eight years on their Helpline. Although this was in the Marketing Department, at the time the helpline was staffed by nurses. The Helpline was very busy, and queries extremely varied.  Working in the NHS, a private hospital, and now complementary health, I feel I have a pretty thorough understanding of how these all work, sometimes integrated, sometimes individually.

I have lived ten minutes walk from CHC for the last 28 years. My three children attended Lee Manor School (now Brindish Manor). I walked along Manor Lane, to and from school with them, for a total of thirteen years! I feel rooted in what is vibrant locality, with a very strong sense of community.  I exhibited at Lee Green Open Studios for several years, and also at other local art events.  Singing in a local ‘Rock’ choir is something I really enjoyed, performing in local pubs and festivals.    I thoroughly enjoy my role on reception. Meeting people new to the centre, and greeting the many familiar friendly faces! I feel part of a happy, professional team.

I first benefited from Complementary Health Centre’s treatments and classes more than 20 years ago and am delighted to now be working as part of the very friendly and professional team.

Originally from New Zealand, I came to the UK in 1989 on a working holiday – and I’m still here! I have lived in Lewisham for 30 years and, after working in central London and Kent for most of that time, I am enjoying working closer to home, and being at the Complementary Health Centre feels very much part of the local community.

In my spare time I can be found riding my bike(s), walking or in the garden, which is a constant work in progress (or lack of progress!).

My first experience of the Complementary Health Centre was over 20 years ago, when I attended my first Tai Chi class with Tony Swanson. Little did I know that one day I would be part of the reception team and a Tai Chi Instructor myself.

For many years I have worked within health, social care and community settings. I have had experience of working as a Child Care Trainer in a Romanian Orphanage with Voluntary Services Overseas. To balance this experience I then worked for Mark Warner in lovely Sardinia for a summer season!

In 1985 I worked at the Sanctuary Womans Health Spa for over 6 years . I worked within the therapy team as a Qualified Aromatherapist and also had experience of working within the Reception team, working my way up to the position of Reception manager.

For the past few years I have worked as a Family Support Worker but felt I wanted to move back to professional settings which complimented my future plans .

For the last two years I have been facilitating Community Cookery Sessions as a Cookery Tutor and also running my own Tai Chi classes.

To my delight a position arose within the Reception team and I started in May 2017. It has been a breath of fresh air to work within the Complementary Health Centre and to work alongside and in partnership with staff who are creative , humorous and nurturing towards the patients and clients who access the Centre .

I have been living in Lee for 30 years and have enjoyed bringing my family up in such a lovely area. I have been a teacher for all of this time, working in local schools in Lee, Bellingham and Blackheath. I retired from teaching in 2017 and am delighted to have joined the CHC family as a part time receptionist.

I am a life long believer in holistic health and have followed this path myself. Yoga has been a constant support to me throughout my life and I have also found great help through homeopathy and osteopathy at the CHC.

I am delighted to have joined the Reception team at the CHC, everyone is so lovely! The best part of this job is seeing people going away better than they were when they arrived thanks to the skilled practitioners that we have here.

I love our local community and part of that is working as a receptionist at the Complimentary Health Centre. Although originally from the north of Scotland, I have lived locally since 1995. My children are growing up in this lovely area and it feels good to work in the middle of it all, surrounded by friends. Before I worked here I managed a holistic beauty salon in central London which included working as a beauty therapist doing natural beauty treatments and massage. So I feel very comfortable recommending all treatments and therapists, many of whom have treated my family in order to keep us healthy.
In my spare time (hmm) I love to practice yoga and do a spot of running every now and again – including a number of 10K runs and obstacle courses. Oh and I love to walk my dog.
